The West Boca Raton High School Band program known as “The Vanguard” is one of the premier marching and concert bands in the state of Florida. Over the past 5 years we have received high recognition along with numerous state and naional awards, attaining superior ratings in all competitive events and evaluations attended as well as earning more than 10 Grand Championships.

2011 – 2012

In the 2011-2012 season, our band program will take on a new concept and approach once again being the trend setter for band school programs.  We have a very ambitious schedule planned, hopefully culminating with a major national spring festival event.  We are looking forward to opportunities to showcase our excellence in concert competitions, and as always, we will be cheering our WBHS Bulls onto victory at each home football game!

2008 – 2009

• Grand Champions - Fiesta-Val Music Competition held in Williamsburg, VA.
• Performed at 5 sold out performances with the world renowned Dallas Brass Ensemble
• At State Level Evaluations we received an unprecedented Straight Superior rating for our Jazz Band Ensemble, Symphonic Band Ensemble and Wind Ensemble resulting in becoming the first Palm Beach County Schools to receive the prestigious Otto J. Kraushaar Award of Excellence.

2007 – 2008

• Superior ratings - Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and Jazz band - State Evaluations.
• Winter Guard - First Runner up at the SFWGA Championship finals for Scholastic Open Division
• Grand Champion honors for Jazz and Concert Bands - The North American Festival Virginia Beach, VA
• The Vanguard became the first high school band program in Palm Beach County to achieve superior ratings in all band programs and one of the only 3 programs in the state of Florida to achieve this honor.

2004 – 2005 Inaugural year
